For individuals located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:
Processing is necessary to fulfil a contract with you or to take steps at your request before entering into one — for example, responding to a discovery request or delivering a consulting engagement.
We process data for our legitimate business interests where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms. These interests include: operating and improving our website, communicating with prospective clients, and maintaining the security of our systems. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time (see Section 7).
Where we rely on consent — for example, to send marketing emails or to place non-essential analytics cookies — you may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. To withdraw consent, contact us at privacy@exlprs.com or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
Certain processing is required to comply with applicable law, such as maintaining financial and tax records under Indian accounting law.
India — DPDPA 2023: Our Indian operations are governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. We act as a Data Fiduciary and process personal data only for lawful purposes with consent, or for legitimate uses as prescribed by the Act. Where consent is required under the DPDPA, we obtain it through clear, affirmative action. You have the rights described in Section 7 as a Data Principal, including the right to nominate a representative.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Our general retention schedule is:
| Data Category | Retention Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Website enquiry & form data (no engagement followed) | 24 months from last contact | Legitimate interest in following up |
| Client engagement records | 7 years from end of engagement | Legal / tax obligation (India) |

When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymise it. Where data is held by third-party processors, we request deletion in accordance with our data processing agreements.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
We engage trusted third-party service providers who process data on our behalf, under written data processing agreements, and only as instructed by us:
We may share limited data with our lawyers, accountants, or auditors where necessary for the provision of professional services to EXLPRS. These advisors are bound by confidentiality obligations.
We may disclose data when required by applicable law, regulation, court order, or governmental authority, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of EXLPRS, our clients, or the public.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
As a company based in India serving global clients, data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including India, the United States, and the EEA. Where we transfer EEA/UK personal data outside those regions, we rely on appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions. You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by contacting privacy@exlprs.com.
